Frames

Bed frames or bedsteads, whether constructed in timber or metal usually have slatted or solid bases which by their very design tend to give a firmer less flexible feel to any mattress which is placed on top.

 

This is fine if you are looking for a firmer sleeping surface. If however you would like a softer more flexible bed then you may want to reconsider your choice and opt for a divan type bed with a sprung base for comfort.
