Divans

Divan beds may appear a little plain or boring even, when compared with some of the exciting designs you may see. Nevertheless divans still provide comfort and features that more trendy frame beds don’t and still account for the lions share of beds sold in the UK. So lets look at what a divan set is and what choices are available.

 

A divan set comprises of a base and mattress fully upholstered in matching fabric (ticking). Headboards are not usually included as part of a divan set unless part of a sales promotion. The mattress on a divan can vary in firmness from soft, medium, firm, extra firm (orthopaedic). Pocket sprung, posturezone or even foam mattresses may be an option, add to this the fact that the base can be hard topped or sprung topped. You will begin to realize the huge variation available by combining different mattresses and base types. Divans usually can be ordered with drawers in the base giving you additional storage space.
